A New Chair

Saturday, July 30, 2011

I found this dark and dreary chair one day and wanted to brighten it up big time.

Hate the dark brown wood.  Hate the cheap black cloth.

Here's the much needed makeover...

Brightened it up with some soft gray paint and cool aqua geometric pattern fabric.  Love it.

Currently for sale.

Little Vintage Rocking Chair

I fell in love with this little child's rocking chair when I laid eyes on it.  Too cute...

Such a sweet little chair.

I decided to paint it a very pale blue and distressed it.  Underneath you can see hints of red and white.

This is currently for sale!

Shabby Light Pink Desk

This is the cutest little wood desk.  It's smaller in size and really sweet.

I knew I wanted to shabby it up a bit.  It's my first time doing this sort of thing so I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

The photo is showing the color wrong.  It's a light pink.  Much pinker in person.

It was a fun project and up for sale now!

***Update - SOLD!

My Z Gallerie Inspired Lamp

Monday, July 18, 2011

So I loved everything about this lamp from Z Gallerie...well almost everything.  I could do without the $139 price tag.

I figured I could recreate my own on a budget.  I just needed to hunt down the right lamp base and I knew the shade would be an easy find.

I spotted this heavy brass beauty at a thrift shop.

Definitely in dire need of a makeover.

It also came with a dingy shade that was entirely too small for the lamp itself.  Go figure.

I picked up a new white lamp shade at Target.

With the help of some refreshing aqua paint, this is what it looked like after.

Ahhhh, much better.

Sure there are differences, but c'mon, it was a thrift store find for cryin' out loud.

Here's the breakdown:

Lamp - $9.99

New Shade - $14.99

Paint - $3.24

Total cost:  $28.22

That's a far cry from $139.
